Yes, I am a cat lady.
I have lived among felines for almost all of my life now.
Although the past six years have been the only ones spent with exclusive indoor cats.
I have learned many things sharing a home with these creatures.
{Some things I wish I could take back.}
Here are my tips for living with cats...
If you think you smell cat pee, you do.
If you have searched the entire house + still cannot find the source of said odor,
check the clothes you are wearing. :/
Do not introduce yogurt {or other human foods} to them.
You will never be able to eat in peace again.
Your cat does not think he is smarter than you.
He knows he is smarter than you + will not hesitate to prove it.
Beware of that playful face your cat makes while laying on his back.
It might look like he is begging you to rub his luscious belly fur.
He is not. It's a trap.
They are constantly planning their escape routes,
and you are only hindering them.
Whenever you are working your hardest, they need your attention.
You will spend your future looking for furniture that is scratch proof.
And apologizing to others for their ruined furniture.
{Again, sorry husband..}
I also have learned that..
They helped me gain my independence.
They are the cutest little beasts I've ever known.
Everyday they melt my heart.
They have taught me so much about myself + the type of parent I will be.
They helped me fall in love with my husband more everyday by seeing his kindness towards them.
There is nothing quite as cute as a kitten.
What sage advice have felines {or dogs, or children..} lent you?

Ohhh I reallly want a cat!! Unfortunately my student accommodation does not allow pets.
ReplyDeleteWhen I own my own place, I will definitely be getting one!
I love this post! I've been thinking about doing my own Norah (our kitty) dedicated post on our blog, and I think your post is that extra push to go through with it!
ReplyDeleteMy number one lesson on having a cat: Oh the patience you learn. So much patience for felines!
Agreed! My patience is always being tested..
DeleteThen they do something cute and you can't help but forgive them! haha
DeleteI published my post on our feline this morning :) Thanks for sharing and the extra encouragement!

ReplyDeleteOh god! I'm reading this at uni and just sitting here grinning and giggling like an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThis is all so true. I'm very much a cat lover and just got my own indoor-only kitty at the end of July for my birthday!
xx
Congrats!! And happy belated birthday!
Deletethis is so cute. I love this post, even though I am now officially a dog person. I used to be a cat woman all my life. Until I got married and had boys...(it also didn't help that my oldest was allergic to cat dander)
ReplyDeleteBut I can still remember all these sweet little details...

so accurate. the best lesson my cat has taught me is that sometimes the things you love most will make you cry. but you have to move past it because they don't mean to.
ReplyDeleteAw this is such a cute post, and everything is so true! At then end of the day cats are so gorgeous :) All could be said about my own dog, I still think I'm more of a cat person though.

I am a cat lady and I may steal this from you! I have two babies, one is almost a year and the other is 8. I love them so much and my instagram is all cats allll the time! So true about the food thing. Warhol (the oldest) was given cheeseburgers while we were away and now he won't leave us alone when we have them!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the GFC blog hop!
